Jessica “I make up one half of the Alero team”

Alero is a small business run by cousins Jessica and Michael, who started the company with a mission to discover our world through scents and promote a harmonious relationship with nature. Initially, candle making began as a hobby during lockdown and launched into a business in December 2020 after much encouragement from our friends and family. The name Alero is a Nigerian Itsekiri name meaning first born daughter which fits as Jess is the eldest of 4. Our range currently includes beautifully scented candles and wax melts that are named after various countries that have an affiliation to the fragrances we’ve incorporated.

So, what makes us different to other candle manufacturers? Our brand is upheld by our environmental promise so we will always do everything possible to make sure that the planet and people are at the heart of everything we do. All our products are vegan, cruelty-free, phthalate-free, and 100% plastic free and our packaging is biodegradable and recyclable so you can enjoy our products with peace of mind you aren’t damaging the health of our planet.
We handmake all our candles and wax melts in small batches, unlike many corporate brands, so you know we’ve put all our love and attention into giving you our very best product.

We are committed to creating premium products responsibly whilst encouraging everyone to do their part. Every purchase from Alero includes the gift of life, Bee Paper. The biodegradable seeded paper is enriched with native British wildflower seeds like Teasel, Yellow Rattle, Red Clover, and Cornflower to help save the bees and other pollinators.
In February, we became a climate positive workforce, offsetting all of our day-to-day carbon footprints from our personal and professional lives. We also plant 2 trees for every order and so far, we’ve helped reforestation projects in Madagascar, Mozambique, and Nicaragua and helped fund CO2 reduction projects in Taiwan and Zimbabwe. We will be sharing regular progress updates on what we’ve achieved, and you can also head over to our website to see our real-time progress.
